Ecological Field Research

Welcome to our websites

There are now two ways that you can explore the Australian desert by camel.
The Outback Camel Company continues to draw on its 32 year history of providing treks & expeditions in the vast deserts of Central Australia, whilst Australian Desert Expeditions concentrates on environmental field work, European exploration history, and in 2009, an ornithological trek and botanical survey in the Simpson Desert.

This winter you may choose to join either an OCC or ADE journey.

Both companies offer participation-based trips which not only continue the living connection to 19th Century Desert Exploration & Afghan Cultural Heritage, but also enable you to experience the Australian desert in a truly unique and enriching manner.

Whilst all our treks and expeditions offer the authentic Australian bush experience, the ADE journeys are more focused on the desert ecology and are accompanied with a selection of archaeologists, botanists, ecologists and/or historians whom are familiar with the particular desert in which we are exploring. Consequently, ADE trips spend more time 'investigating' the country.
