Continuous heavy rain in the summer of 1999/2000 in Central Australia, caused the normally dry Finke River to flood into the Simpson Desert. These pictures show the flooded inter-dune corridors along Snake Creek during the 10 day Western Simpson Desert Trek. We were continually having to avoid the water - a pleasant surprise in such a dry landscape and something we may not get a chance to do again for many years.
